Surgical: Protocols to Avoid Grafting with Full-Arch Prosthetic Rehabilitation

Edentulous patients as well as individuals with failing dentition who want a fixed prosthetic rehabilitation face time-consuming, expensive, and uncomfortable bone grafting procedures. For patients and dental clinicians treating them, the perceived complexity of rehabilitation is perhaps one of the most difficult obstacles to overcome on the road to treatment acceptance. The graft-less treatment concept represents a streamlined approach to treatment with elimination of grafting and utilizing minimal armamentarium available in most surgical offices. However, simplicity of the concept does not always lead to ease of execution or success of overall treatment. To be successful one must recognize the absolute requirements that must be satisfied in all cases. During this lecture, Dr. Zarrinkelk will draw on his vast experience to highlight the absolute surgical and prosthetic factors to be considered for successful treatment. Diagnostic criteria and surgical techniques will be discussed in depth utilizing actual case footage.

Learning Objectives:

  • Properly select cases for full-arch rehabilitation.
  • Understand the diagnostic principals in treatment of atrophic maxilla.
  • Be familiar with surgical techniques for placement of dental implants.
  • Be familiar with prosthetic principals of rehabilitation.
