Molar Replacement Therapy - Shifting the Clinical Paradigm

This lecture will highlight treatment alternatives for the immediate molar socket. A multi-rooted extraction socket is often too large to accommodate a traditional size implant. Problems include inability to gain primary stability, excessive amounts of grafting, poor embrasure spaces and alignment resulting in food impaction. This lecture will identify a new paradigm in treating extracted and immediately replaced molars, based on diagnosis and solid treatment planning of hopeless teeth. The lecture will also include surgical advantages to ensure maximum success for both hard and soft tissue structures when immediately replacing molars.

Learning Objectives:

  • Create and implement a “same day solution” to shorten treatment timelines and increase patient satisfaction
  • Create optimal emergence profiles and eliminate large gingival embrasure spaces
  • Implement treatment alternatives for immediate molar extraction sockets

Dr. Blue has pioneered a bone grafting technique treating severely atrophic mandibles for future implant placement with gains of over a centimeter in thickness. He has also created a suturing technique allowing for undetected anterior esthetic soft tissue grafting of thin tissue biotypes. He received both his education and surgery residency at the University of Missouri, Kansas City dental school, and now practices full-time and resides in Aspen, Colorado.
